**** yeah! This is the first and only Petty album I've ever owned. This was back when I got all my new music news from the 93.3 The Planet. If they played an album with two good songs on it, I went and blew $15 on it at the local music store.
I think those songs were "Room At The Top" and "Free Girl Now." It's a pretty odd album with only the merest hint of a theme but the songs are all very tight. The band knows what they're doing. Still, I don't regret skipping out after seeing 30 minutes of Petty at Bonnaroo. Judging by the tone of the article (and my memories of Rachel's vaguely projected disappointment in '06) I'm guessing the Tavareses didn't make the 3-day drive back to Tennessee in 2007.
Loved the Tom Petty article Rachel...good to have you on board with Static and Feedback
It made me download a couple of their albums which I'm really digging.
looks like I'll be purchasing some vinyl, or tickets when they come to town (my way of paying back the band- I don't have enough money to buy even close to the number of albums I listen to so I buy merch off the best bands...fairest way I can think of doing it)
I expect a Radio Static podcast soon :) ,
Cheers, Finn
P.S. Bully your hubby Nick into getting more articles written....it's now one of my seven homepages hehe (gotta love Firefox)
