How the hell did you put up with Melky Cabrera for so long?! It's only April and I already want him to die in a fire. Leading off the 8th inning in a no hit game? Why, that's the perfect time to swing at the first pitch and dribble softly to first. Congrats to Ubaldo Jimenez and all that, but dear god, he and Nate Mclouth and Troy Glaus are offensive abortions.

Also, is anyone here a Cleveland Indians fan? If so, I'd like to ask why, over nine years, you guys never taught Victor Martinez how to catch a pitch and, later, throw to second base. My god. This is little league crap that he's messing up.

this red sox team might be the most unenjoyable team in ecent memory (and i'm including the '01 debacle that had Mike Lansing and Dante Bichette...)
theo fcked up a lot, first by failing to significantly upgrade the offense, and then claiming it was all about 'run-prevention'! (here is a hint, when you downgrade at short-stop and at the same time you somehow claim that defense in left-field at fenway is important, you likely alos believe tha red sox fans are a dumb lot...)
i have gone on record saying that theo is an average- at best- GM but i also believe he is a pretentious, spoiled rich kid from Brookline and this offseason is the personification of all that... if the Sox want to lower their ticket-prices and also sign mid-tier free-agents, thats fine...
but too charge and arm-and-a-leg and to sign head-scratchers like Scutaro and Cameron, while somehow trying to convince the general-public that 'run-prevention' is the new under-exploited stat in baseball is ludicrous (not the Rapper Ludacris...)
add the infamous comment this offseason when he said JD Drew is a 'slight tick better than 1 $14million dollar player and the only conclusion is that Patrick Kennedy had a more productive winter than Theo...
See, but you have the luxury of having the greatest infield in baseball history (arguably), so a crappy 9th hole LF platoon isn't a huge deal. Melky has hit LEADOFF for us at times this year, and he is absolutely awful. He is clueless in the OF, doesn't make contact enough, has zero power, and lacks the speed necessary to make up for these problems. Vazquez at least is a K machine (leads all pitchers since 2000, apparently) and slots in incredibly well as your third starter. That young reliever we got from you in that deal better be all kinds of incredible to make it worth it. Also, we used the money saved to sign Troy Glaus, who has a hole in his swing bigger than the Grand Canyon.
i thought melky was a decent outfielder with a solid arm- then again compared to damon and bernie williams, seamus from the 'family guy' has a solid arm...
The infield has been great so far this year, so I can mostly agree with that.
I thought Melky was decent defensively, and played CF for the Yankees for 2 years. Centerfield in Yankee Stadium (both versions) is pretty big and I had no complaints about his defense. A lot of timely hitting too.
