This is routinely the only interleague series I care about, because I hate interleague play. But, as usual, the Braves will be taking on the Red Sox this weekend, with the mighty Devern Hansack taking the mound for Boston (!!!).
And on that note, I stumbled on a really cool article about the Braves recently, wondering if they should've stayed in Boston with the Red Sox moving instead. It's definitely something I'd never thought about before, but after reading it, I'm kind of convinced that the city would've been better off with the Braves staying.
And then, who knows, maybe I'd be wearing a Braves cap and Matt a Red Sox cap this weekend. John Smoltz and Chipper Jones in Boston, Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz in Atlanta...
Weird, huh?

The Sox have always been my second favorite team. Well, maybe not always. At least after we got beat in 1996 by the Skankees. Tomorrow should be fun (Iron Man Smoltz vs. Dice-K), though I'll have to settle for listening to it at work. I went to the Sox-Braves game last year, got front row seats the day of. What a nightmare that day was though. The lots were full, so we had to park at Hi-Fi Buys Ampitheater, a good ways away from Turner Field. Lost my debit card on the way to the shuttle, too. And they lost. But that was the 2006 Braves season for you. I'm looking forward to this series, oughta be very fun.
Braves-Sox game 1 was postponed tonight, which means there will be a double header tomorrow. More importantly, it means that I will get to actually watch one game of this series. hopefully they move the Smoltz-Dice K matchup to the 7:35 game.
I dunno what's the better deal, MLB.TV or Extra Innings on cable.
As far as tomorrow goes, the Braves' site says the afternoon game is on SportSouth, and the night game and Sunday's game are on TBS. Hooray for Chip Caray!
I would also like to say how much I envy you for living on the West Coast. You can wake up on Saturday and Sunday mornings and watch baseball or football.
MLB.tv is about $15 a month and you renew from month to month. Extra innings on cable is about $150 for the year. I have a shiny new monitor (Thanks, Mac Guy!) and a high-speed connection, so I think MLB.tv will be the way to go for me. Plus you get access to the archives, so I can catch up on what I miss.
And, YES! That means I can watch them on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. That rules. I really appreciate the times when I can break out a Sox jersey in front of the couch and yell at the TV. The Diamondbacks are nice and I like them, but there's no real emotional connection there.
As for the West Coast thing, that's nice, but the East Coast games typically start at 4 my time, and I don't get home til about 6, so that means I miss most of any East Coast game I really want to see. But morning sports are great. So there's a give and take there

Agreed. Maybe Selig will pay Cox and Francona a visit and, umm, suggest that it would be in the game's best interest to have a Smoltz-Matsuzaka match up
