ZEPPELIN RULES!

All right, fresh from the news page:

Led Zeppelin boards the mothership

Everyone's favorite bombastic, mystique-filled 70s hard rockers are planning a new 2-disc best-of release, as well as a deluxe version of The Song Remains the Same.

More importantly, though, are the rumours that they're gearing up for a full-fledged reunion with Jason Bonham on drums.

I have my opinions on the state of Robert Plant's voice at this stage in his career, but what do you folks think of this?

We know what Otto thinks...

The Mothership is pretty much a money making ploy. Didn't they just release ANOTHER boxed set a couple of years ago? And weren't the Early Days and Latter Days CDs enough?

Granted, I'd be willing to throw down at least $100 to see a reunion, provided of course that they don't go all Police and not know how to play with each other anymore.

Yeah, The Mothership itself looks like a repackaging of Early Days/Latter Days. But the new Song Remains the Same should be pretty cool. As far as a reunion... I guess I'll leave it up to YouTube or something before I decide to try to get tickets.

As far as another box set... are you thinking of the DVD or the 3-disc How The West Was Won? Just wondering.

Also kind of funny, this all comes about a day after I re-discovered how completely and utterly KICK ASS the BBC Sessions set is. My god, the second disc is just one of the greatest rock CDs of all time.

Here's what I was thinking of.

That's also the second time they've released their catalog.  The first boxed set came in two volumes and contained all their catalog.

Ohhhhh.... Yeah, that came out in the early 90s. The 4-disc "Led Zeppelin" was released in 1990, "Box Set 2" came a couple of years after, and then that followed a year later. That was totally a "hey, replace your records with CDs in one shot!" kind of package.

My god! It happened! And it was apparantly awesome!

Complete with YouTube goodness inside. Yum.
