Muse. They're alternative, they're heavy, and they're British. I love Feeder, Snow Patrol, Blur, Supergrass, etc. So I'm supposed to like it. It's supposed to be right up my alley. But I just can't groove to it. I even had a girl's ass bounce all over my face to "Supermassive Black Hole" and it was funky at the time, but now, lately, it's so-so. "Hysteria" is pretty good. Also, call me crazy, but I think Matthew Bellamy sounds more like an early Rivers Cuomo than a late Thom Yorke.
And I'm not listening to Clapton, at all. **** Clapton. Listening to him is like watching C-SPAN. About as fun as watching yourself get sunstroke.
Also not listening to: TV On The Radio, Interpol, Morrissey, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Clapton drives me nuts, because from 1965-1971, there was only one guitarist better than him and no one else even near his class -- Jimi Hendrix. I mean, my god, have you ever listened to the Live Cream album? It's incredible! I've had that record for about 10 years now and it still blows me away. It totally baffles me how he went from that to "Lay Down Sally" in less than a decade.
He's, obviously, awesome, but when he doesn't have someone to push him -- Jack Bruce, Duane Allman, John Lennon, George Harrison, Steve Winwood, etc. -- he just lays back and mails it in. Infuriating.

Allright, so I found the video for "Y Control" and have proclaimed it to be addictive! It's a Spike Jonze, and Karen O gets to do a lot of what she does better than anyone else in the world: be Karen O. Have y'all seen it?
U2. I own like thirty bucks of U2. I like what they do, on and especially off the stage. "Beautiful Day" was probably my favorite song uh, four years ago. But I don't listen to 'em all that much anymore. Now they're like the old books on the bottom shelves of the library that never get checked out. Even their new stuff sounds old to me, whereas by comparison most of the Rick-Rubin-produced Beastie Boys tracks that came out a couple years before Joshua Tree still sound hip.
