just as i'm starting t get into soccer and just as i'm starting to get pumped for the world cup, friggin david beckham and his stupid achilles ruptures... damn. i like england and i like beckham and i was hoping he'd go out with one last magical run but... ugh...
I was bummed to hear this. And it becomes even sadder when you realize that this probably ends his international career, too. It's hard to imagine him coming back to top form for Euro 2012. It's a shame.

haha... there is no one more patriotic than me- evidenced by a mitt rmney button i am currently wearing in which ol' mitt is sporting a buttoned down american flag polo shirt (i am joking but that is quite a humorous image...)
but the usa and soccer go together like a.) hugh hefner and those 3 hot chicks he was bangin' for a little while or b.) the n.h.l. and european players or 3.) ted kennedy and 'designated-driver'...
england has the tradition and they have the best league in the world and they have fans who actually care about the sport during the other 3 non-world cup years... the usa has landon donovan and alexi lalas and not much inbetween...
In all seriousness, I will be pulling like a madman for Portugal tomorrow what with being Portuguese and the first member of my family even born in the US, but if the two were to meet up, I'd be cheering for the USA. It's probably the only sport where we're a real underdog. Hockey was close, but that's just because we were only the fourth or fifth best country in the world, playing the best (Canada).
And I'd like to sell you on Bocanegra and Dempsey in addition to Donovan. And be on the lookout for Herculez Gomez coming in late as an energy striker!
That is all. Hooray World Cup football.

i like rooney and gerard and crouch and lampard and then messi and drogba and the talent of ronaldo (isn't ronaldo portuguese?) and thieren...
usa soccer is boring to me- kinda like watching the lowell devils or the manchester monarchs or Division II baskeball- 'eh there is some skill out there and they are clearly better than you and i but at the same time you are aware it is so much better elsewhere...
the flopping is so ridiculous- it makes it almost unwatchable... really it does. and it so greatly has affected hockey and basketball on this continenet that something needs to be done...
