Happy 20th PEARL JAM!!

I wanted to make sure to make a note of it today.  They've meant a lot to a bunch of us over the years.

For me, they really started my obsession with rock music to a great degree.  I had liked other bands and such, but they were the first I really spent an inordinate amount of energy and resources devoting time to.  From when I sat at my radio with my blank cassette recording the Altanta show live in 1994, to my first ever concert experience in 1996 at Randall's Island in the pouring rain that made me a true zealot (and the 18 other shows over the years that followed), to as recently as my wedding less than 2 weeks ago - when my friends were so offended that I did not put any Pearl Jam songs on the playlist that they demanded the dj to play a number of Pearl Jam songs during the reception (for the record, "Alive" and "Daughter") - their music has been a big part of my life.

My point:  that makes today, which would otherwise be just another day, worth celebrating.

Yeah, Benaroya Hall was an excellent show. The acoustics are great, especially for Ed's voice, which can sound muted on some of the bootlegs (particularly the ones at MSG, which are the ones I usually end up getting).

The satellite radio station is up, bringing them in special company with Springsteen, the Grateful Dead, Sinatra, and Elvis as the groups with their own dedicated stations, which is pretty cool, though I have yet to check it out.
