Baseball is Back - 2011 Edition

Spring is here!  We're all big baseball fans so let's get started.  Here are my predictions...I will note that despite my well discussed dislike for Boston, that they will be the team to beat this year, as they are stacked with the right combo of veterans and younger guys that if healthy, should blow away the pack at least in the American League.  A big time put up or shut up year for that crew.

So the predictions that never turn out accurate:

AL EAST

Boston Red Sox (103-59)
New York Yankees (95-67)
Tampa Bay Rays (85-77)
Baltimore Orioles (81-81)
Toronto Blue Jays (63-99)

AL CENTRAL

Chicago White Sox (91-71)
Minnesota Twins (89-73)
Detroit Tigers (83-79)
Kansas City Royals (69-93)
Cleveland Indians (65-97)

AL WEST

Oakland Athletics (93-69)
Texas Rangers (86-76)
Los Angeles Angels (75-87)
Seattle Mariners (67-95)

NL EAST

Philadelphia Philles (100-62)
Atlanta Braves (90-72)
Florida Marlins (85-77)
New York Mets (70-92)
Washington Nationals (69-93)

NL CENTRAL

Milwaukee Brewers (85-77)
St. Louis Cardinals (85-77)
Cincinnati Reds (85-77)
Houston Astros (84-78)
Chicago Cubs (80-82)
Pittsburgh Pirates (50-112)

NL WEST

San Francisco Giants (92-70)
Colorado Rockies (92-70)
Los Angeles Dodgers (80-82)
Arizona Diamondbacks (70-92)
San Diego Padres (70-92)

PLAYOFFS

AL:
Boston over Chicago in 4
New York over Oakland in 5

Boston over New York in 6

NL:

Philadelphia over Colorado in 3
San Francisco over Milwaukee in 3

Philadelphia over San Francisco in 6

World Series
Philadelphia over Boston in 7

And there's my attempt to take my NY bias out of the equation.

I won't get into the playoffs because, well, it makes my head hurt a little bit. And trying to do the records, I'll get mad at myself if I don't make the entire league add up to a .500 record. But I'll give the standings a shot:

American League

East:
1. Boston
2. Tampa Bay
3. New York
4. Baltimore
5. Toronto

Central:
1. Minnesota
2. Chicago
3. Detroit
4. Kansas City
5. Cleveland

West:
1. Texas
2. Oakland *
3. Los Anaheim
4. Seattle

National League

East:
1. Philadelphia
2. Atlanta *
3. Washington
4. Florida
5. New York

Central:
1. Milwaukee
2. Chicago
3. St. Louis
4. Cincinnati
5. Houston
6. Pittsburgh

West:
1. San Francisco
2. Colorado
3. Arizona
4. Los Angeles
5. San Diego

* - wild card

Agree.  Disagree.  Agree.  Strongly agree!

This will surely be a fun year to watch baseball.  I did not think to make the whole league add up to .500 because I just can't get that involved.  I just figured if I was talking off the seat off my pants, I might as well run with it.
