Its funny that you mention that Timmy because the only reason I downloaded their other record was because I saw a mention of Cherry Ghost on the wikipedia page for Wilco. Turned out to be good stuff.

Also, hi everyone

Hey Wes.  On first listen, the new Cherry Ghost isn't as good, but we'll see.  Whenever I speak to you guys, I feel like I'm missing the party with Wilco.  I've got all the early albums, and think they're all pretty good.  So clearly I still don't get it, because you lot all think they're incredible.
I'm with Leibbz on The National too, I know they get some love around here.  The Boxer is a great album, which I listen to regularly, but the 'waiting for each song to drop' analogy is a good one, especially when describing High Violet.  Give me Okkervil River instead.

For the Wilco thing, try "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" and "A Ghost is Born".  Their other albums are wonderful but those two just as good as any music I've ever heard.

Hello Wilco fans.  I'm determined to fully 'click' with Tweedy & co. (I'm so near but yet so far, the penny's still rolling round the rim etc), so I've loaded my MP3 player up with Wilco, and only Wilco, as I often do with Dylan, and tomorrow I won't be able to listen to anything but.  I didn't actually know until earlier today that Tweedy was in Uncle Tupelo - I used to listen to No Depression quite a bit (introduced to me by the same guy who got me into PJ).  From what I'm reading, if I were to purchase further Tupelo records, Anodyne should be my next step, correct?  And are we allowed to mention Son Volt?  I like what I've heard on youtube today, album suggestions would be welcome for them too (I'm watching American Central Dust on Ebay).

In this week, the week before I make the jump across the East River and move to Queens (Astoria), I have two shows on back to back nights tonight and tomorrow night:

Tonight - The Black Keys w/The Morning Benders - Central Park Summerstage
Tomorrow - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers w/Buddy Guy - Madison Square Garden

Does the word 'bender' have the same meaning in American slang as it does in the UK?  Because I can't imagine that band not getting some stick over here.

There's been significant chatter about them on indie websites, which for my tastes, usually does not bode well...but you never know. I try to keep an open mind from time to time.

I will definitely try and enjoy both shows as they are my last until I get married in October. I wanted to go see Sonic Youth on Saturday, but it coincides with my moving day, so Sonic Youth loses since I've seen them 4 times already.

I'm a bit behind on the forums I'll admit but at no point did I see you were getting married! Congrats man!

As for what I've been spinning on the non music side I've listened to all the podcasts and four seasons of the XFM radio shows of the Ricky Gervais show. After particularly long sessions I start to develop a manc **** accent when I say certain words which can be kind of annoying.
