Fistful of Mercy

At the risk of starting another Ben Harper/Lenny Kravitz feud...Ben Harper has yet another new outfit he's working with - this one with Dhani Harrison and Joseph Arther called Fistful of Mercy.  Amazon has the album coming out October 5th, Rolling Stone claims they are touring in October this year, and there are clips on the band's website:  www.fistfulofmercy.com.  I frankly have not heard it yet, but perhaps it will be really good.  They did a free show at Easy Street Records in Seattle last night and apparently drew so many people they had to stop traffic on that street.

Not sure what this will mean for Relentless7, who cancelled a few shows in Europe due to a life threatening illness in the band, (R7 apparently has an album ready to go for the fall, but no date announced) or the Innocent Criminals.

This looks promising though I sincerely miss the Innocent Criminals.

Me too, though more Juan Nelson and Leon Mobley, who worked really well together.

Dhani Harrison has been a favorite of mine for a while. This could be sick.

Also Fistful of Mercy is quite a name. IF you ad fistful to anything it makes it pretty aggressive sounding, for example: fistful of kittens.

I listened to the song the other day, and thought it sounded pretty good.

They also apparently played a few songs at the West Memphis Three Rally in Birmingham Saturday night, which also featured Patti Smith, Natalie Maines, and Eddie Vedder.

I picked up Our Shadows Will Remain by Joseph Arthur about a year ago, it's pretty good.  I hope there's another Relentless 7 album though because along with There Will Be a Light (both studio and live), it's the only BH album I regularly listen to nowdays.

There was an email that went out that celebrated their "return" to the road at the Gorge opening for Dave Matthews Band this past weekend. They are playing the Life is Good Festival outside of Boston soon also...so apparently Ben is not done scratching that itch and is managing both projects simultaneously. That's a good sign for the apparent fall release of the second Relentless7 album.
