Alright, just wanted to let it be known that Rachel and I took in Sonic Youth on Sunday night (Sept. 3) at the Avalon in Boston, and it was damn incredible. The band was in top form, as usual, and peppered the Rather Ripped songs with some classics nicely, especially with the Confusion Is Sex songs.
For me, the highlight was "Shaking Hell," from the latter album, that closed the night. Thurston Moore was on bass and looked hypnotized for the last two minutes as the two guitars and the bass built up to a constant rumble that literally shook the place. Very intense.
Anyway, here's the setlist:
Setlist: Candle Reena Incinerate Skip Tracer What a Waste Teen Age Riot Do You Believe in Rapture? Turquoise Boy 100% Rats Jams Run Free Pink Steam Or Encore 1: The Neutral World Looks Red Encore 2: Shaking Hell
