"Carry The Zero" by Built To Spill is one of my favorite songs. It's like a five-minute Almond Joy; crunchy, chewy, sweet. I can't find anything else like it by B2S. Help me, ye gods!
Well... I'm not so sure I'm a Built to Spill EXPERT. But you're right about that song being fairly unique for Built to Spill. Still, I think they're most recent album, You in Reverse has some tracks that come close. By far, the most similiar is "Conventional Wisdom."
I love Built to Spill, though. All of it. I recommend getting everything they've ever done.

I just downloaded a whole ton of Built to Spill from Ruckus.com
"Conventional Wisdom" at first hear, sounds weird (too unconventional for me, ironically) and doesn't have the balls-out self-sacrifing guitar bacchanalia of "Carry The Zero." Instead, there's this clever coffeehousey structured breakdown, and by comparison it's a little too much Weezer and not enough Allman Brothers.
...I'll let you know if their other stuff sucks, too. =^j
